United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 14-04 (Prince's Bay)
Commanders Message Jan 2010
Welcome to the website of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 14-04. We are a proud member of the Coast Guard Team. Our Flotilla serves the Staten Island area by providing vessel safety checks, and assisting the U.S. Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as safety patrols, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.
2009 was a banner year for Flotilla 14-04. I would like to thank all of our officers and members for all their time and hard work. We educated over 250 boaters who took our About Boating Safety Course. Vessel examinations were up 30% from 2008. We have one new Coxswain and one new PWC Operator in order to improve our patrol numbers. Three crew members were re-qualified and are ready to serve in 2010. In 2010 we will continue to offer Safety Classes to the public beginning in March. We will increase of Public Visitation numbers with new PV candidates. Two new facilities will be introduced in order to improve our Aids to Navigation Patrols. Member training will include bringing 4 new crew members on board for 2010. New Emergency Response plans will be introduced for 2010. Flotilla 14-04 will have a calling tree in affect in order to react to any disasters that may occur. We are looking forward to a great 2010!
